We believe that true allyship is a proactive practice. Proactive allyship means continuing to learn and evolve with both inner work (recognizing your biases, seeking to understand folx with experiences different from your own, and listening to what support is needed) and outer work (standing up for LGBTQIA+ folx who are facing oppression, whatever that looks like in your life). Stating that you are a Proactive Ally is sharing your commitment to show up for the LGBTQIA+ community, now and always.

This design features…

The Progress Pride Flag was developed by nonbinary American artist and designer Daniel Quasar in 2018. Based on the iconic rainbow flag design first created in 1978, the Progress Pride Flag redesign celebrates the diversity of the LGBTQIA+ community and calls for a more inclusive society. The updated flag includes black and brown stripes to represent marginalized LGBTQIA+ communities of color, along with the colors pink, light blue, and white, which are used on the Transgender Pride Flag.

The Pansexual Pride Flag has been in wide use since the early 2010s when it was created and posted by an anonymous Tumblr account.

The adaptation of the Lesbian Pride Flag used in this design was created by Emily Gwen in 2018 and is inclusive of trans and gender nonconforming folks.

The Intersex Pride Flag was created by Morgan Carpenter of Intersex Human Rights Australia in 2013 to serve as a flag that is “not derivative” and is “firmly grounded in meaning.”

The Nonbinary Pride Flag was created by Kyle Rowan in 2014. The four horizontal stripes of color – yellow, white, purple, and black – are symbolic of nonbinary folks’ experiences.

The Transgender Pride Flag was designed by Monica Helms in 1999 as a symbol of trans diversity and rights.

The Gay Men Pride Flag was first created by a Tumblr user in 2019 as a more inclusive option than the original flag that featured only shades of blue and a white stripe.
